Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis of bioactive compounds of <i>Curcuma longa</i> leaves extract

Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) is a unique plant that combines the properties of spice, colorant, cosmetic, and drug. As medicinal plant, it used by traditional healers in treatment ailments such as diabetic wounds, rheumatism arthritis, multiple sclerosis etc. This study was carried out to determine presence potential bioactive compounds present longa leaves. The were extracted using Soxhlet method extraction analyzed Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. eleven chemical constituents identified GC-MS analysis leaves aqueous extract. includes Cis-13- octadecenoic acid, methyl ester (28.40%), Cis- vaccenic acid (17.14%), Hexadecanoic (16.40%), n- (15.59%), Heptadecanoic 16-methyl-, thylester (6.03%), Oleic Acid (6.02%) well which at low level. extract showed could have important properties. result, these be responsible for therapeutic can develop new antimicrobials.
